This course examines the psychological, relational, and systemic dynamics of dating and intimate partner violence. Participants will learn to recognize healthy relationship markers, early patterns of coercive control, and the ways trauma can affect memory, attachment, communication, and survivor behavior. The course also provides trauma-informed, choice-centered strategies that help counselors support safety, preserve survivor autonomy, reduce shame, and remain actively engaged without assuming control or rushing the survivor’s decisions.
