This course examines how multiracial identities are frequently overlooked, invalidated, or forced into single-race categories within counseling, education, media, and public institutions. Participants will explore the social, psychological, and systemic forces that contribute to identity erasure while developing a deeper understanding of multiracial identity development. The course also provides practical strategies for using inclusive language, improving clinical and institutional practices, challenging oversimplified narratives, and affirming the identities and lived experiences of multiracial individuals.
